Palisades Yacht Club was originally constructed
in 1941. The name of the original owner is
obscure. The Coast Guard took over the building
during World War II as there was concern that
German subs could possibly use the river to
attack inland American cities.
There is still a small flag between Palisades YC
and the shrine that marks the landing used by
the riverboats and the SeaBee’s during that
period.
Palisades Yacht Club was purchased by Leo &
Doris Skrabacz in 1971. They loved the
Mississippi and eventually their son, Robert
“Dale” Skrabacz operated it after their deaths
in 1999 and 2000.
In December 2006, Palisades was purchased by
Scott Lewis and Amy Spencer. Scott and Amy have
made improvements in the facility, adding new
docks in 2007, increasing
restaurant hours & enhancing the menu as well as
fighting the flooding that occurs each year!
